Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Where can I buy Artisan doors?
A: Artisan has a network of dealers that sell and install our garage doors. To find out the nearest dealer, please call Artisan at 888-913-9170. Please go to How To Buy  for more details.

Q: How long does it take to receive Artisan doors?
A: Please contact your dealer. All door series have different lead times from the factory, but generally speaking, most of our doors are produced and shipped before 8 weeks.

Q: Can I order my Artisan doors primed or factory finished?
A: Yes. Artisan offers several finishing options based on the kind of door (product series). Please review the specific door series web pages or go to  Finishes web page for more details.

Q: Are custom door sizes available?
A: Yes. Artisan offers both standard and non-standard sizes. If building a new opening, it is recommended that you design your finished opening to match a standard size such as 9’-0” wide by 8’-0” high or some dimension close to even feet in each direction. Odd increments in both width and height creates a non-standard size and will usually increase cost.

Q: Are custom door designs available?
A: Yes. In addition to the hundreds of design possibilties from our standard design collections, Artisan can handcraft a one-of-a-kind design that meets your architectural preferences.

Q: If I order a stain-grade wood door, can a paint finish be applied?
A: Yes. We recommend two coats of a high quality primer before applying your custom-color paint finish. Please go to Finishes for more details.

Q: How do I stain or paint my Artisan door?
A: We strongly recommend that you finish the door, on all 6 sides of every section, prior to installation in order to maintain the warranty on your door. Please go to Care & Maintenance for how-to details.

Q: Is there a warranty?
A:Yes. Please see Warranties for details where you can print a complete warranty for each product line.

Q: Can one section of a door be replaced, or is a new door required?
A: In most circumstances, a single door section can be replaced. Each situation is different and will vary based on which door series it is. If replacement is possible, it may be necessary for the damaged section(s) to be returned to Artisan to assure proper alignment of door details. Please contact your dealer about replacement procedures.

Q: What does low-maintenance mean?
A: All garage doors require some level of maintenance. Think of your furniture where use wears off the finish on the arms of a wood chair or the seat. Our wood and composite doors have a protective top coat applied OVER the finish to protect it. Over time, exposure to sun, wind and rain wear the protective top coat away. We strongly recommend that our low-maintenance doors and wood doors receive a refresher top coat before the finish is damaged. Please go to Care & Maintenance for Maintenance Top Coat details.
